The TOF Braided Fluorocarbon Leader is a technical fly fishing leader developed for saltwater applications and fighting powerful fish.
Made from Varivas Shock Leader fluorocarbon, it combines a progressive multi-strand construction, controlled shock-absorbing elasticity and a specially designed connection system that allows the leader to pass smoothly through the rod guides.
PROGRESSIVE 1.80 M CONSTRUCTION
The leader consists of two sections:
1 metre of quadrupled fluorocarbon, providing efficient casting energy transfer and excellent fly turnover.
80 cm of doubled fluorocarbon, creating a more flexible transition towards the tippet.
This progressive construction improves casting performance and ensures accurate presentation, even with larger saltwater flies.
KNOTLESS LOOP AND REVERSED PERFECT LOOP
The upper end features a knotless connection loop for a clean connection to the fly line.
An intermediate reversed Perfect Loop knot, positioned 1 metre below the upper connection, joins the quadrupled and doubled sections.
This design allows the first metre of the leader to enter the rod guides smoothly without a connecting knot catching on the guides.
It makes close-range line handling easier, particularly when a fish approaches the angler, while reducing friction and the risk of damage to the rod guides.
ELASTICITY AND SALTWATER STRENGTH
The multi-strand construction provides controlled elasticity to absorb aggressive strikes and powerful runs from saltwater species.
Varivas Shock Leader fluorocarbon offers good abrasion resistance and low visibility underwater.
